How Your Clients Stay Covered While You Are Away

Updated

Bottom line: Someone has to answer your clients while you are gone. On a team, the people already sharing the workload can. Working solo, that someone is often still you.

What does vacation look like when you work alone?

A RE/MAX News profile followed a high-volume solo agent who works without an assistant.

Ziolkowski, a Diamond Award Club member with 20 years in real estate, sold 168 homes in one year for $65 million in volume.

He told RE/MAX News that he is never fully off when he is on vacation. He said he is fine with that because real estate is his life.

At that pace, with no assistant, every client still reaches him directly.

Why did agents start forming teams?

HousingWire traces early teams to agents who wanted to share the workload or win a higher commission split.

A team that shares the workload day to day already has people in place when one agent steps out.

What happens when working harder stops adding deals?

RE/MAX News told the story of a high-producing Florida agent who reached the limit of her hours.

She concluded that more growth needed more than harder work.

With a plan in hand, she launched a team that now includes buyer agents and operational support staff.

For a solo producer, that ceiling and the vacation problem share one cause: a single person carries every client.

Questions & answers

What do Alpharetta agents ask about this?

Do top teams actually grow faster than top solo agents?

HousingWire reported RealTrends figures covering 2011 to 2022. The 250 top-producing individual agents grew closed transactions per person by 13.9%. The 250 top-producing teams grew closed transactions per team by 405.4% over the same years. HousingWire called the gap expected, since teams can scale far more easily and quickly than one agent.

Those figures describe the largest producers across the industry as groups. They say nothing about any single practice, and nothing about what yours would do. The useful read is about capacity. A team adds people who can take files, showings and follow-up when one agent is stretched thin or out of town. That same depth is what lets a teammate step in for your clients while you are away.

Which support roles do teams add besides more agents?

HousingWire reports that as technology took hold in the industry, teams grew their personnel to manage it. The roles it names include executive assistants, transaction coordinators and marketing managers. RE/MAX News described a Florida agent whose team now pairs buyer agents with operations staff. Each of those roles is one more person who can carry part of a file while you are away.

For a producer at volume, the order matters. Look at which tasks pull you back to your phone on a trip, and start there. Ask how any team you are weighing divides that work today, and who picks up a client when the lead agent is out.

What coaching and training would I get with you in Alpharetta?

We run daily group coaching for all agents, plus masterminds built around production. There is a strong training calendar with classroom sessions. Business planning clinics support your business and your goals. You also get access to the Millionaire Real Estate Agent Course, taught by millionaire agents and leaders, to help guide you to the next level.

For a producer already running at volume, the production-based masterminds are where you compare notes with agents working at a similar pace. The business planning clinics are a place to work through what you hand off first. Ask Brian Smith about the training calendar.
